Sacred Harp Singing School

BASH is hosting a Sacred Harp Singing School taught by visiting singer Lauren Bock. Learn more about the tradition and practice and join us in song! Appropriate for those new to Sacred Harp as well as experienced singers. We’ll spend time learning and singing! This event is free and open to the public (donations accepted). Wheelchair accessible. All are welcome.

Lauren Bock is a music educator living in Decatur, Georgia. She has been singing Sacred Harp since 2005 and has taught numerous singing schools, including sessions at Camp Fasola and Camp Fasola Europe. She holds a degree in music and education from Hampshire College.

When: Saturday, April 20, 2019, 1-5 p.m.
(Note: This will occur the weekend before the Golden Gate Singing, which will be on April 27, 2019.)
Where: First Congregational Church of Oakland, Choir Room, 2501 Harrison Street (at 27th Street), Oakland, 94612. Near Lake Merritt, 0.7 miles from 19th Street Oakland BART. On-site parking is very limited, but nearby pay lots are within short walking distance.
